Solution

  • Terminology was key to ensure consistency between the different products and materials. The translators first extracted the key terms from the source texts and created a glossary. This involved reading all of the files to be translated and identifying all technical terms that required a standardised translation.

  • Thanks to reference material, the translators could remain consistent with existing terminology.

  • Reference material was also used to build translation memories, to make these memories as comprehensive as possible, again remaining consistent with existing material.

  • Translation memory management: it is essential to use validated and up-to-date translation memories to ensure consistency between the various texts. Also, when several translators were working on the texts, the translation memories and the glossary enabled them to remain consistent and provide high-quality translations.
