Client
Challenge
Due to the international scale of its activities, our client needs to localise all of its products into all languages spoken in the markets where it operates. This involves consistently translating marketing documents, user interfaces, online help, press releases, etc.

Solution
- Terminology was key to ensure consistency between the different products and materials. The translators first extracted the key terms from the source texts and created a glossary. This involved reading all of the files to be translated and identifying all technical terms that required a standardised translation.
- Thanks to reference material, the translators could remain consistent with existing terminology.
- Reference material was also used to build translation memories, to make these memories as comprehensive as possible, again remaining consistent with existing material.
- Translation memory management: it is essential to use validated and up-to-date translation memories to ensure consistency between the various texts. Also, when several translators were working on the texts, the translation memories and the glossary enabled them to remain consistent and provide high-quality translations.

Result
Thanks to this system, which is perfectly suited to the client’s requirements, we were able to offer total consistency in all of their content. The use of translation memories also reduced costs and turnaround times.
